How do I know if I might have Autism or AuDHD?

Maybe you already know you have ADHD, but it still feels like there is another big piece of the puzzle you haven't found yet. Or maybe you have always wondered if you might be on the Autism spectrum.

No matter what, you deserve to feel understood and supported. We are here to help you figure out exactly how your amazing brain works, with kind and caring testing for adults available right here in Seattle.

If any of these sound familiar, you very likely could benefit from specialized Autism or AuDHD (dual Autism and ADHD) testing:

Exhausting Social Masking: Forcing eye contact, mimicking social cues, and scripting conversations, leaving you completely depleted by the end of the day.

Need for Routine: Feeling a deep, structural need for routine, predictability, and certainty.

Sensory Overwhelm: Finding that bright fluorescent offices, crowded Seattle transit routes, or noisy coffee shops are deeply distressing.

Tendency to Hyper-Focus: Immersing yourself fully into deep research or special interests to the point where you lose track of time or find it hard to stop the activity.

What is Autism Testing?

ADHD is a unique brain style that changes how you manage your energy, focus, and time, while Autism is a distinct way of experiencing sensory inputs, routines, and social communication (when they exist together, it is called AuDHD).

Autism testing helps us understand how your brain naturally processes information, handles sensory input, regulates attention, and navigates social communication.

This evaluation is a deep, validating look into your personal history. We look closely at how you manage your day-to-day energy, how you handle sensory overloads, and how much effort you spend "masking" just to fit into traditional workplaces or social settings.

Testing isn't about giving you a restrictive label; it is about uncovering how your brain works so that you can finally stop fighting your natural patterns and start thriving with the right support.

Why Choose Edwards Psychiatry for Adult Autism Testing?

Because traditional diagnostic models were built almost exclusively around young children presenting visible hyperactive behavior or profound developmental delays, millions of brilliant adults (particularly women, BIPOC individuals, and high-masking professionals) were completely missed or misdiagnosed.

Neurodiversity is a specialty of our practice. We have intentionally built a team passionate about ADHD, Autism, and AuDHD so that you feel completely seen and heard. We have developed a diagnostic process that feels deeply safe, collaborative, and entirely affirming. We view autism and ADHD not as pathologies to be cured, but as natural, valid variations in human neurology.

Our team carries deep specialized training in high-masking presentations and the intersectional realities of BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and gender-diverse neurodivergent individuals.

We recognize that standard diagnostic environments can feel clinical, cold, or invalidating. Our team looks at your entire life story, your childhood history, and your real-world functional landscape, ensuring you feel heard, seen, and deeply respected throughout our time together.
